Transparent PNG or a colored background

Leave it transparent when the cutout goes into another design, a listing template, or a slide where the background behind it still has to show through. Preparing your photo

Use the original photo at the highest resolution you have. A screenshot of a photo carries blur and compression that the removal cannot undo, and a small blurry original is the most common reason an edge looks rough. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 10MB. If your phone saved the photo as HEIC, convert it to JPG first, since HEIC is outside the accepted formats. On first use, the AI model downloads once (about 80MB) and stays cached, so the first run needs a connection and a moment, while later runs start faster. If the edge looks rough

Check the result at full zoom with the drag-to-compare control before downloading. Hair and fur usually come out clean with this model, and the comparison view is where a stray strand or a soft halo shows up. When an edge does look rough, the usual cause is a low-resolution or blurry original, or a background very close in color to the subject. A sharper original with clear contrast between subject and background gives the cleanest edge. Busy backgrounds with objects at the same depth as the subject are the hardest case for any automatic remover, and a second attempt with a simpler photo often beats repeated attempts on the same file.
